New cases of "atypical" BSE in Brazil

The Ministry of Agriculture in Brazil confirmed recently the discovery of two cases of "atypical" BSE. The cases were confirmed with older animals (10 and 11 years old) during routine health inspections at meat plants in the states of Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso. Brazil has temporarily suspended its beef exports to China but is looking forward to resume exports after a 15 days' period required by  protocol and no further cases detected in the country.

The OIE’s “negligible risk” of Brazil will not be affected.
