As of August 21. China AQSIQ has suspended the importation of Australian Bovine Serum into the country. The reason - positive results after testing Australian Bovine Serum for BVD (Bovine Virus Diarrhoea). The tests were performed on serum upon importation into China using ELISA and PCR. An official notification on the AQSIQ website has not been published yet.
Earlier this year China stopped importation of Bovine Serum from New Zealand for the same reason (you can access our article (here). The situation has not been resolved yet.
With restricting imports from the two major sources of Bovine Serum Chinese serum users can only hope for a quick solution and for opening up the borders for other sources like USA or Brazil.
